Project Name：Utility Tunnel in Suzhou Taihu New City Start-up Area

Project Solution：A total of 5,000 tons of 609 steel struts and double 400 purlins, 5,800 Lassen Steel Sheet Piles, and 7,000 tons of 488 Steel H-Beam

Introduction:
The Suzhou Utility Tunnel is located in the sections of Youxiang Road, Zhong’er Road, and Zhongba Road in Wuzhong District, Suzhou City. The project is situated among multiple factories, with Taihu Lake to the south. The project construction scale is relatively large, crossing East Taihu Road to the south and occupying more than half of Youxiang Road to the north. The topography is generally complex. Due to the large construction scale, the entire project is divided into multiple sections, with each section being constructed separately. The foundation pits are not deep, mostly around 7 meters, with the deepest no more than 12 meters. According to the differences in soil properties and foundation pit depth at different sections, various shoring structures are used, such as grouting piles, Lassen Steel Sheet Piles, and construction method piles. Based on the depth and stability requirements of the foundation pits, two types of shoring structures are used, namely concrete shoring and steel shoring. The project’s construction methods and techniques have been adjusted according to the surrounding environment and soil conditions. The entire project lasted about two years, a relatively long construction period.
